Authenticity is so attractive. It’s hot. It’s sexy. It’s a keeper. It’s not a trophy wife. It’s a partner for life.
Picture this. You’re talking to someone you find beautiful…Then suddenly, something is off. The romantic lights turn blindingly fluorescent. You can taste the soap in your cocktail. You notice the wallpaper is peeling off in places. You can’t put your finger on it, but your Spidey sense is tingling. Why is this beautiful person sitting in front of you transforming before your eyes?
Then, it hits you. This person feels fake. They feel made up. You’re weary. Of course, you’re weary. You’ve been burned before. Fake is makeup on the pillow and a different face beside you. Fake is they said they loved your favorite book and you see the cliff notes sticking out of their purse. Fake has an expiration date. Fake can’t maintain.
You want to feel flattered that they’re putting so much effort into impressing you, but you don’t want to be impressed with something that’s not real. It’s like seeing a Picasso up close and finding out it’s a paint by numbers. You’re not looking for your faux soul mate. You’re looking for your actual soul mate. If they are being fake, eventually you’re going to meet the real person. And who are they? Where are they? When they show up, will you get along?
