This Swim will change your life

This swim will change your life. But first, you have to find the right swim partner to motivate you. It can’t be your walking partner. Your walking partner wants to know about your day, wants to tell you about her kids, may have recently finished watching a series, or just saw their mother. Water is not for chitchat. Water is for kicking your own ass.

A swimming partner must be part friend, part competitor. Like a tennis partner, they need to swim a little better than you, so you have something to reach for. If they are slower than you, it’s like dragging an anchor on your ankle.

It helps if they annoy you, so when you stop to talk and stretch, they get your blood boiling. This is great for sprinting. An irritating swim buddy is a wonderful trigger for daemon access. It switches on your flight response. Though, you must also remember, anger can also lead to sloppy form, so when you are daemon hacking, maintain your nice long strokes and streamline.

The key to good swimming is a noiseless body, so keep your inner splashes within. Use your irritation as your motor. It’s tantamount to having someone yell “make it burn” during an aerobics class. During COVID, it’s so important to find exercise buddies because whether you admit it or not, you’re mildly depressed. So, do what I have said, and if it annoys you, use it or lose it.
