Thanks for sharing this James. The circumstances of who went to war and who did not are so crazy. This piece made me think of O'Briens The Things They Carried. But in my head, it was more the things that kept men from war...cherry bombs, flat feet, rich fathers, etc. Sadness and silver linings. Sorry about your young friends. Be well.
