THESE ARE THE NANOSECONDS OF YOUR LIFE
Learning From Tom Hanks — This Too Shall Pass
I’m off this week — not off of work, parenting, cleaning, walking the dog, communicating with other humans, cooking, waking up at 3 a.m., swimming, or any of my obligations or life choices.
I’m just off — like if a brain scientist and put nano dye in my brain, they’d say, “Whoa. What’s going on in there?”
Or if a yoga instructor told me to balance for a nanosecond, I’d tip over.
Or if a therapist asked, “How are you feeling?” I’d have no idea.
Or if I were a computer program, I’d glitch.
When I’m feeling this way, I listen to Tom Hanks talk to a table of comedians and actors on YouTube. He says—
“You feel bad right now? This too shall pass. You feel pissed off? You feel anger? This too shall pass. You feel great? You feel like you know all the answers? You feel like everybody finally gets you? This too shall pass. Time is your ally. And if nothing else, just wait. Just wait it out.”
