I know you didn't write this for a pat on the back, but it's nice to share the anger. My mom always thought I should be flattered by harassment--like it sucks when they stop noticing. Many men made my world feel so much smaller and it has me angry. I want that time and space back. Instead of making ourselves big like bears to fight back, we often shrink from it. It looks like you have a pretty good idea how frequently and violently women are harassed on a daily basis. Women share the worst harassment stories to each other like it's normal--sometimes even laughing at things that might have gotten us killed, but what's the alternative? The great thing about getting older is I make no apologies for telling men to fuck off when they've crossed the line--which is much clearer than many men see it is. Thanks for writing.
